Chapter one:  Freshblood
It was eleven o’clock and a black blanket of stars loomed over the village of Hamilton. And as everyone slept soundly in their beds one boy, by the name of Banto, was out hunting for deer in the forbidden part of the forest. He never knew why it was forbidden, but tonight he was going to find out.
Banto was climbing up a tree to get a bird’s eye view of the forest when he spotted a deer. He froze mid way up the tree and quietly took out his bow and arrow. He pushed his black hair out of his eyes and aimed at the defenseless deer who was eating his own meal, clueless that he was going to be Banto’s meal.
Suddenly Banto heard a crack under him. Focusing more on his dinner, he shrugged it off. Foolishly he was standing on a rather weak branch. Obviously the branch couldn’t take his weight and broke, causing him to plummet to the ground. Hitting the grassy floor rather harshly, Banto had only enough time to watch his prey flee when a bunch of branches and leaves fell on his head.
As he brushed the rumble aside he noticed something quite odd. The lucky deer ran into an abandoned cottage that Banto didn’t notice when he got there. Banto reached into his bag to find his flashlight to get a better look at the cottage, when he felt something furry. He peeked into his bag to find a snoring gray kitten. The kitten opened its brilliant blue eyes and started purring loudly. “Lila?”, Banto said referring to the sleepy kitten. Lila meowed and tucked her head into her paws adorably. Banto figured that his cat stowed herself away in his hunting bag for a nap, not wanting to disturb her he grabbed his flashlight and headed over to the creepy looking house.
The wood creaked under his boots as he walked along the patio. And as he peeked through a foggy window a shiver ran up his spine, all he saw was darkness. Heading towards the door that the deer ran into, he smelt a foul odor. It was like something decaying in the cottage, getting a whiff of the scent, Lila stuck her head out of the bag.
Banto’s hand slid on the side of the door frame searching for the light switch. When he found it , he flicked it on with no use. The bulbs were dead and the cottage was still pitch black inside. Flicking on his flashlight the beam of light immediately  landed on the corpse of a recently deceased deer, the same ‘lucky’ deer that got away from Banto.  Stepping over the deer he traveled a little further into the darkness of the house.
“Hello?”, he called out to no one.  
“Mew?”, Lila mimicked him.
He heard a slam and turned to see the front door close. Banto took out his dagger that was hidden in his sleeve and held it tight. Whoever was in this cottage killed the deer and was probably going to kill him too.

Her name is Caligo, she used to have fair skin with silk brown hair and bright blue eyes…but…that was before it happened. Seven years ago it happened and it changed her life forever. Her sister, her best friend, she became vampire and bit poor Caligo. It destroyed her life. Now Caligo has violet hair, pale gray skin and abnormal red eyes. With vampire markings covering her body. She grows claws and wings that are almost devil like. She was now a ‘paranormal’ as some humans called it. She called it ‘monster’.
Her sister, Danielle, loved life as a vampire. She didn’t care for the animals or humans that became her victims. Danielle did kill her parents after all. Caligo on the other hand won’t kill for food; she couldn’t stand the sight of blood when she was young. She only feasted on animals that weren’t killed by her, she was usually starving. “Who heard of a vegetarian Vampire”, Rachel always said. Rachel was the vampire who bit Danielle. In Dani’s mind Rachel ‘gifted’ her when Rachel bit her, and Dani ‘gifted’ Caligo. Danielle hated her life as a human, she hated her parents, school, everything.
Rachel was born a vampire, as Dani put it she was naturally ‘gifted’. Rachel has the ability to shape shift into a bat, wolf, cat, spider and even other vampires she knew. Her father is Scab. The King of the vampire nation, and the cruelest, war loving, man that ever existed. Rachel never acted like him. She was hyper and life loving, though she has a bad temper and a short fuse.
The population of vampires have been decreasing rapidly and Scab wished to repopulate them by destroying all humans. This is why Caligo, Danielle, and Rachel are hiding out in a cottage just outside of the village of Hamilton.

Caligo was sitting in the corner of the filthy, pitch black cottage. She hugged her knees and stared at the wall listening to her sister and Rachel plot.
“So when Scab gets here with all those vamps, we’ll crash the humans little party and have them all gifted”, Danielle smirked, “and those not worthy will become our pathetic human slave.”
“How can you say that? Weren’t you a ‘pathetic human’?”, Rachel commented.
“Not 'till you ‘gifted’ me”, Dani answered.
“Stop saying ‘gifted’ it sounds retarded”, Rachel laughed.
Suddenly a deer came crashing through the door making all three girls jump. The deer froze and went to turn around but something held it back.
“I was gonna go out to eat but, delivery is better”, Rachel snarled holding the deer’s leg. Morphing into a wolf and pouncing on the defenseless deer. Rachel teared the poor animal to pieces as Caligo hid her face in horror. ‘So hungry…must’, Caligo shook the thoughts from her head, ‘I can’t eat a poor de…” Her thoughts interrupted by an intoxicating smell. Looking up she saw Danielle, blood running down her lips. “Come on Cali, its freshblood”, Danielle waved a torn off deer leg in front of Caligo. Caligo watched the blood drip off the leg and licked her lips. With hunger taking over she gave in grabbing it and sucking it dry. Danielle smirked.
“Wait a minute…”, Rachel said in her normal form, her pale skin pink with blood, “Who delivered?”
All three girls stopped what they were doing and stared at the door. Caligo gasped and pointed at the window, where the face of a boy with black hair and green eyes looked through the foggy glass window. Luckily vampires can see much better in the dark then humans or Banto would have seen them.
“Hide”, Danielle whispered her eyes narrowed to slits and watched as her little sister ran upstairs to the roof and Rachel morph into an insect.
Danielle hid in the darkness of the cottage and watched as a boy with a filthy hunting jacket, green baggy pant and twigs in his hair stepped through the cottage door. He tried to turn on the lights but there was no electricity running through the house. Dani walked quietly towards him to attack but saw him turn on the flashlight in his hand and jumped away from the light. She watched him flinch when the flashlight shined on the bloody corpse of the deer. She held back a giggle.
“Hello?”, he called out to no one.  
“Mew?”, Lila mimicked him.
Dani smirked at him, ‘You fool’, she thought.
Suddenly she saw something lurking in the darkness. It was a wolf, but by seeing the wolf’s piercing green eyes Dani knew it was Rachel.

Banto heard a slam and turned around to see the front door close. He took out his dagger that was hidden in his sleeve and held it tight. Whoever was in the cottage killed the deer and was going to kill him.
Banto shined his flashlight on the door to see nothing there. He heard snarling behind him. When he turned, a wolf leaped on top of him, fangs bloody and growling. Lila jumped out of Banto’s bag in fright and scurried away. The wolf saw her and ran after her leaving a very shocked looking Banto on the floor.
“Rachel”, Danielle yelled from out of the darkness. Banto turned at her voice and stood up. Once both Banto and Danielle’s angry eyes met they both stood in fight mode. Banto pointed his arrow at Dani while she showed her fangs and grew claws. Before Dani could react Banto quickly shot an arrow at her foot and ran out the door.
Danielle didn’t even shudder at the pain in her foot. She just ran after him causing her foot to tear to pieces. She didn’t realize that the arrow went through her foot and into the ground. Limping out the door and falling onto the patio, she finally yelled out in pain.

When Banto heard the vampire scream he knew he got away, but he was still missing something, missing a cat, missing Lila. The wolf chased her out of the cottage and now he couldn’t find her.

Rachel, in her human form, was sticking her hand in a tree hole. “Hiding now are you kitty”, she laughed. Suddenly she felt something with fur. Grabbing it and pulling it out she found… a squirrel. Tossing the poor animal aside she started sniffing the ground. She turned into a black cat and mewed a few times. Coming out of a bush, Lila saw the black cat and mewed back.
Quickly morphing back to normal, Rachel grabbed the cat. Petting Lila and sniffing the tasty blood that flowed through her veins. About to bite the scared kitten, Rachel was hit with an arrow in the right knee causing her to drop Lila. A second arrow came flying and shot her in the eye. She fell to the floor and screamed. Banto lowered his bow and looked down to see Lila rubbing against his leg. He picked her up and placed her in his bag. Banto glared at the vampire and realized she was gone.
Unfortunately when Banto turned around he was face to face with Danielle. He stepped back and bumped into Rachel. Both glaring at him with evil smiles plastered on their faces.
“You really think you can kill us like that”, Rachel snarled, red blood covering her pale white skin from the wound. Her dark green almost black hair dripped with blood, making her look sick.
“You pathetic human”, Dani sneered, torn looking bat wings lifting her from the ground as her injured foot dripped with blood. “And to think I was gonna ‘gift’ you”, Danielle held his chin in her hand. Banto pushed her away and pointed his arrow at her.
“Awe, he’s so cute when he’s trying to be a threat”, Rachel cooed, clasping her hands together by her cheek. Her mood quickly changed when she morphed into a wolf and growled.
Just before either of them could attack Caligo swooped down from the sky and snatched up Banto and flew away. Rachel morphed back to normal and slammed her fist into a nearby tree, frustrated.
“I can’t believe Caligo just did that!!”, she yelled fueled with anger, her mood suddenly changed as she giggled, “I’m starving.”
“You just ate a deer…”, Danielle looked at her friend strangely. Turning back to where Caligo flew off to Dani stared growling and flying after her.

Caligo placed Banto on the roof of the cottage. ‘They’re going to kill me for doing that’, Caligo thought while brushing herself off. She turned her back on Banto as she stared at forest where Dani most likely was. Suddenly she felt something cold against the back of her head.
“Don’t move”, Banto hissed, holding an arrow to her head. Caligo cracked a nervous laugh.
“You…ya…not gonna kill me are you?”, she stuttered. The cold feeling  on the back of her head disappeared. She laughed again, “Oh…thank you, I thought you were…”, she turned around and saw no one.
“Umm…sir?”, Caligo called out. She ran over to the edge of the roof and looked out, she saw him running back to the village.
“WAIT!!,” she yelled.
“For  what?”
Caligo turned and nearly fell off the building with the shock of seeing her sister. “Dani!!,” Cali let out another nervous laugh, “How’ve you been?,” she asked nonchalantly.
“Do you realize what you just did?!?!,” Dani yelled into Caligo’s face.
“I…I,” Cali stuttered.
“You just let a Freshblood go off and tell the whole damn village that there are vampires lurking in their forest!!!,” Danielle’s face was red with anger.
“Um…sorry?,” Caligo shrugged, smiling.
Danielle had enough, her sister was now mocking her, making her look like a fool. Her blood boiled, eyes glowing dark green, fangs showed and claws grew. Caligo saw this and knew what was next…so she jumped off the roof just before Dani struck.
Danielle’s fist missed Cali when she jumped and crashed into the hard wood of the cottages ledge. “Arrg,” she yelled, slamming her feet as she walked away.
